Seminar Syntophagy
The ability to sustain neurotransmission relies on the efficient and accurate recycling of synaptic vesicles at the presynapse. Central to this is the process of synaptic vesicle regeneration by endocytosis. Over the course of the past decade, there has been considerable debate regarding the nature and mechanism of this essential event. This seminar will outline recent developments regarding the molecular mechanism of synaptic vesicle endocytosis, touching on the identification of new molecules and pathways in this process. It will also cover recent developments in the field of human disease, in the context of endocytosis dysfunction and implications for a series of neurodevelopmental disorders.
