Robert Koch Prize of Charité 2024 for Dr. Anna-Lena Eckert
On November 21, the Commission for Promoting Young Talent awarded the Robert Koch Prize of Charité to the three top doctoral graduates of the year at Charité. Prof. Friederike Kendel, Deputy Chair of the Commission for Promoting Young Talent at Charité, presented the award to the three winners on November 21, 2024, at CharitéCrossOver (CCO) at the Charité Campus Mitte. Dr. Benjamin Kuntz, Director of the Museum at the Robert Koch Institute, delivered the keynote address.
Dr. Anna-Lena Eckert demonstrated that human perception, which is based on an optimally weighted combination of previous sensory impressions, functions differently in individuals with psychotic traits.

Each year, the Robert Koch Prize honors the three best doctoral theses of the year, whose results are of particular significance for the field of research and/or clinical care and that showcase diagnostic, methodological, or technical innovations.
Other awardees:
- Dr. Maria del Rocio Chamorro Gonzalez, who developed a new method to study cancer-related genes in the form of DNA rings, which occur in particularly aggressive and resistant tumors.
- Dr. Mathias Lukas, who developed an imaging technique that allows for the simultaneous, non-invasive, and quantitative detection and visualization of radioactively labeled substances and their interaction with tissues in a living organism with very high resolution.
The prize money of 650 euros each is donated by the Association of Friends and Supporters of the Berlin Charité.
