Founding Partners
The Center was initiated by the participants listed below and was jointly supported by the Charité - Universitätsmedizin Berlin, the Freie Universität Berlin, the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin and the Technische Universität Berlin, as well as the non-university partners Max Delbrück Center for Molecular Medicine and the Leibniz-Institut für Molekulare Pharmakologie.
Funding started in 2016 with a start-up phase reaching the full scale phase in 2018.

Berlin School of Mind and Brain
The Berlin School of Mind and Brain was founded in 2006 as part of Germany's Excellence Initiative as an international and interdisciplinary graduate school. Research within the school focuses on the interface between the humanities and the neurosciences. It offers a unique three-year interdisciplinary doctoral program in English in the mind/brain sciences.
Its mission is to educate and train outstanding young scientists in the entire scope of mind and brain research and to sharpen the international profile of the research community in the greater Berlin area.
The Berlin School of Mind and Brain is located in Berlin.

Bernstein Center for Computational Neuroscience Berlin
The Bernstein Center for Computational Neuroscience Berlin (BCCN) is a collaborative leading research institution which hosts a number of groups working on questions related to neural computation from the single cell level all the way to the systemic level, both theoretically and experimentally. It was founded in 2004 and is part of the National Bernstein Network Computational Neuroscience (NNCN).
It provides a research-oriented international Graduate Program Computational Neuroscience with a master´s and a PhD program to combine outstanding research with excellent teaching.
The BCCN is located in Berlin and Potsdam.

Center for Stroke Research Berlin
The Center of Stroke Research Berlin (CSB) at the Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin is an integrated Research and Treatment Center (IFB). CSB research groups perform disease-oriented basic research, clinical research, epidemiology and health services research related to stroke. The CSB was founded in 2008. With its focus on protecting the brain, preventing complications and recovering lost function, the CSB covers the most relevant and promising areas for improving outcomes for stroke patients.
The CSB offers a two-year master´s program: Master of Science in Cerebrovascular Medicine. The program targets medical doctors, healthcare professionals and scientists planning a career in stroke research. The course is specifically designed to allow students to combine ongoing work commitments with program activities.
The CSB is located in Berlin.

Cluster of Excellence NeuroCure
NeuroCure is a Cluster of Excellence in the neurosciences at the Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin. The main focus lies on researching neurological and psychiatric disease mechanisms and the translation of knowledge from basic science to clinical practice, besides on expanding the well-established neuroscience community in the region in and around Berlin.
To understand the frequently common disease mechanisms, NeuroCure attaches importance on research approach and concept.
Emphasis is also placed on training young researchers, networking of ongoing research activities and establishing new professorships and junior research groups in Berlin.
NeuroCure was founded in 2007 and is located in Berlin.
