MYALINK - platform wins Health-i Award 2021 from Handelsblatt and Techniker Krankenkasse
Dr. Maike Krause and Dr. Sophie Lehnerer, two scientists from the Department of Neurology at Charité-Universitätsmedizin Berlin, have won this year's Health-i Award in the young talent category with their project MyaLink. MyaLink is a digital platform that connects patients with rare diseases such as myasthenia gravis with their specialists.

Unexpected pairings
Being able to precisely turn on or off particular neurons in the brain at will was a major challenge for the neuro- science field, and few could have anticipated that the solution would come from algae. The 2021 Albert Lasker Basic Medical Research Award recognizes the contributions of ECN Member Peter Hegemann, Dieter Oesterhelt, and Karl Deisseroth for their discovery of light-sensitive microbial proteins that can activate or silence brain cells.
