Oxford researchers in Berlin: Two million euros for strategic science partnership
With a total of two million euros for the first four fellows of the "Einstein BUA/Oxford Visiting Fellow" program, the Einstein Foundation Berlin is strengthening the scientific partnership between the Berlin University Alliance (BUA) and the University of Oxford. One of the Fellows is neurologist Prof. Peter Rothwell, Director of the Wolfson Centre for Prevention of Stroke and Dementia. He will conduct research at the Center for Stroke Research at Charité.

How do we make vital decisions?
If we’re hungry, we should stay awake and eat. If we’re tired, we should sleep instead of eating. It’s obvious that the behaviors involved in eating and sleeping are mutually exclusive. But how does the brain determine which set of behaviors is the right one at any given time? Dr. David Owald, a professor who works in neurophysiology and behavioral science at Charité –Universitätsmedizin Berlin, is delving into this question using the tiny brains of fruit flies as a model.
